Method of creating lightweight wood-plastic composites with a hard surface and a soft core
Subject of the invention is a method of creating wood-plastic composites with a hard surface and a soft core. Thus across the board, or Shaped composites, unlike wood-plastic extruded composites, retain a low volume weight even with a low polymer content. During the creation of wood-plastic composites created from small disintegrated wood particles and combed cotton wool from a thermoplastic polymer, the course of temperatures in the pressed volume is used. The thermoplastic fiber begins to melt in the surface layers in contact with the heated plate or form, while in the middle layer it still holds its shape. A slight compression occurs as the polymer in the surface layer begins to melt, followed immediately by cooling so that the composite retains its shape. In this way, the composites get a harder surface (shell) and a soft core. Different properties in the cross-section of the composite can be obtained by different contents of the plastic component in the middle and in the surface layers.
