Bausano's next-gen twin-screw extruders offered in US, Canada

Turin, Italy — Bausano & Figli SpA launched its next generation lines of twin-screw extruders for pipes, granules, wood-plastic composites and medical materials for the U.S. and Canadian markets.

The company says the two lines, MD Plus and MD Nextmover, feature a patented Multidrive transmission system, interpenetrating and counter-rotating screw geometry, and analytical tools.

The advancements are the result of innovation and more than 70 years of know-how in plastic processing, according to Clemente Bausano, the company's vice president.

"Our Multidrive system has increased the efficiency and the service life of our machinery, undoubtedly setting a new high standard in the extrusion industry for both. Our approach to design and development, production, assembly and testing steps ensures the highest technical and functional quality standards," Clemente Bausano said in a news release.

The extruder design reduces stress on motor shafts, gears and screws thanks to the tightening torque strain being distributed on two pairs of motors, the release says. The "innovative distribution of motion" also improves service life, according to the company.

In addition, the MD Nextmover line features an all-new digital extruder control system with a multi-touch panoramic screen. The company says it continuously screens the system by processing reports and graphs in real time "to easily and precisely analyze extrusion parameters and consumption at each stage of the production cycle."

The MD Nextmover line also has a smart energy system for contactless cylinder heating. The company says by using an alternating electromagnetic field, the new system reduces wear-and-tear and delivers energy savings of up to 35 percent.
